Training Philosophy
Dorene uses only positive reinforcement training techniques. Methods that involve force, fear, pain, and punishment are both inhumane and counterproductive—animals don’t learn well when afraid or in pain.
In positive reinforcement training, also called reward-based training, we use things that naturally motivate an animal (food, play, attention) to encourage wanted behavior. Unwanted behavior is ignored or a reward is removed. And often, environmental enrichment and finding an acceptable outlet for the behavior can solve seemingly impossible problems.
Bottom line? Learning should be a good experience—for all involved.
