What We Can Help With

Aggression: Biting, growling, snapping, protectiveness of toys and food, lunging and barking on leash, fear-based aggression, territorial aggression.

Fear & anxiety: Fear of being left alone (separation anxiety), phobias (thunder, loud noises, etc.), excessive shyness, self-mutilation, obsessive behaviors.

General problems: House-training, jumping, leash pulling, digging, chewing, scent marking, puppy socialization and handling, puppy chew training.

Obedience training: Polite greetings, loose-leash walking, coming when called, good manners at home and in public, and all basic dog training commands (sit, down, wait, etc.).

We can also help you find the right breed of dog or shelter to adopt from, or help you get off to a great start with your new dog or puppy.

How We Work

Step 1: Initial Consultation (1–2 hours)

An in-depth consultation to evaluate your dog’s behavior. Sometimes, an underlying medical problem contributes to behavior problems and Dorene may recommend a visit to your vet before beginning a behavior modification program.

What you get: An understanding of your dog’s behavior, recommendations on what to do next, and management tips for immediate relief and improvement.

Step 2: Behavior Modification Work

We write a behavior modification program for your dog and show you how to implement it. Depending on the problem, we either help you every step of the way through private coaching sessions or meet a few times to make sure everything is progressing to plan.

What you get: A way to reduce or eliminate unwanted behavior—and the means to get there.

Sessions are scheduled at your convenience and in the privacy of your home. (A home visit is essential for observing the unwanted behavior in the dog’s own environment.) We encourage the whole family to take part.

Call or email now for a chat about your dog’s behavior and an assessment of time and charges.
